Choral Conducting Masterclass

We are delighted to announce the Sonoro Choral Conducting Masterclass to be held on Saturday 6 July and Sunday 7 July 2024, 10:00am-5:00pm at St Gabriel’s Halls, Churchill Gardens, Pimlico, London SW1V 3AA.
- Aimed at advanced conductors, places are limited to 8 active participants and up to twenty observers
- Gain invaluable insights and practical skills from Neil Ferris, one of the country’s leading teachers of choral conducting
- Receive personalised feedback and guidance in a supportive and encouraging environment
- Refine your conducting technique and learn how to use it to effectively communicate with your choir
Neil will be joined throughout the weekend by pianist and composer Michael Higgins and vocal coach Joanna Tomlinson. Members of Sonoro will join for the final afternoon session providing a rewarding opportunity for all active participants to work with one of the UK’s finest professional choirs

An examination of vocal techniques with specific reference to the demands of the repertoire chosen for the weekend, and how to apply these in your own rehearsals.
Sunday 7 July

14:00-17:00 Conducting Masterclass with Sonoro
HOW TO APPLY
Applications for active participant places are to be sent by 12:00pm (noon) on Friday 24 May 2024 to Liz Chapman. Please submit the following:
- An up-to-date CV
- A video link of an example of your work (rehearsal or performance)
- A statement on why you would like to participate and what you hope to gain from the masterclass.
Participants chosen will be notified by Friday 31 May 2024.
Observer places will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to attend as an observer, please apply via email to Liz Chapman.
FEES
Active participant: £320.00
Observers: £95.00, or £50 per day
